The Founder's Story...

In summer 2009, Damon Scott lost his job of 5 years, to the down fall of the economy. Despite loosing everything his family invited him on a family cruise to get away from the troublesome times. Wandering off in the Caribbean islands he stumbled on many of the poor regions that were beyond the glitz and the glam for tourists. He was stunned to see children barefoot running around in mud and trash, as many of them even had deformed feet. He had thought his world had crumbled with the lost of his job but found that there was nothing that compared to what he had witnessed. When Damon returned home he had done much research about poverty and the wide spread of diseases that can be contracted through bare-feet. Astonished he had found that much of the globe is living in poor conditions, in contaminated soil, and is exposed to many parasites and blood born pathogens that can even cause death.

Starting the organization in 2009 through his own funds for many years the organization became official in 2013 when Flip Flops For Families established it's 501(c)(3) status.

Flip Flops For Families was founded to be an organization that builds dreams and restores lives. We will not be able to rebuild lives on our own;  we will walk alongside local churches, synagogues and our community to help them meet their own needs, build their own dreams, and empower them to stop the cycle of poverty. We ask for your help as you have already made this organization possible. Join us and help those in need one pair of flip-flops at a time!
